Dagestan gets prepared to commemorate 80th anniversary of Great Patriotic War

Preparations for commemoration of the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War have commenced in the Republic of Dagestan. This has been announced today, November 28, during a meeting of the regional organizing Committee "Victory" chaired by the Head of the region Sergei Melikov.
The plan for commemorative events, preparations for military parades, festivities in cities and districts of the republic and media coverage issues were discussed.
Melikov stressed the importance of active engagement in activities aimed at preserving the memory of the Great Patriotic War. “These events serve as a cornerstone for instilling a sense of patriotism in youngsters, fostering a deep love for the homeland and a commitment to upholding the traditions passed down from previous generations” – the senior official said.
Moreover, Melikov underscored the significance of maintaining a link between the events of 1945 and the present time. "We must consider the participants of anti-terrorist and special military operations as an integral part of our illustrious history" - the top official confessed.
Melikov highlighted the importance of contribution made by educational institutions, veteran organizations, volunteer groups and social movements. In this regard, the regional leader instructed to develop a comprehensive action plan for the entire year of 2025, with specific priorities identified.
