Dagestan looks to creative industries for economic growth

The deputies of the People’s Assembly of the Republic of Dagestan have approved the bill “On Creative Industries in the Republic of Dagestan” in the first reading. The legislative act is designed to bolster the cultural and economic potential of the region.
The initiative was submitted for review by a group of lawmakers led by Zaur Askendarov, the Speaker of the Assembly. In his remarks, Askendarov underscored the critical role of creative industries as an engine for economic growth, capable of generating new employment opportunities, expanding tax base, fostering investment and promoting tourism development.
Askendarov emphasized that the bill under consideration provides the legal framework necessary for the flourishing of creative industries within the borders of Dagestan.
The top official went on to say that the enactment of the law would foster economic growth and encourage young people to remain in the republic, allowing them to fully realise their creative abilities within the local context.
The new legislative initiative is called to serve as a catalyst for flourishing the creative sectors in the region, thereby paving the way for a more prosperous and culturally vibrant future for the republic.
