Dagestan sets record for grape harvest and enters top 10 agricultural regions of Russia - Abdulmuslimov

The Prime Minister of Dagestan Abdulmuslim Abdulmuslimov has congratulated the agricultural workers on their professional holiday. The top official emphasized the critical importance of agriculture for the regional economy, which accounts for over 20% of the gross regional product.

Abdulmuslimov noted several significant achievements in the sector. In 2024, Dagestan set a record harvest of grapes since the collapse of the Soviet Union, surpassing 300 thousand tons. The republic continues to lead in sheep and goat population and ranks second in rice production nationally. Over the past decade, rice cultivation area has nearly doubled, setting an unprecedented record. Agricultural production in the region grew by 106.1%, with a total value exceeding 252 billion rubles, the highest figure in the last 10 years.

Abdulmuslimov, further underscoring the government's dedication to fostering agricultural growth in Dagestan, conveyed his gratitude to all stakeholders for their contribution to this advancement. He underscored the significance of ongoing initiatives aimed at enhancing efficiency and fostering competitiveness within the agricultural sector through the adoption of innovative technologies and modern farming practices.

During the forthcoming year, a substantial sum of approximately RUB 3.7 billion will be allocated from the federal budget to support the regional agro-industrial sector. Abdulmuslimov expressed firm belief that farmers in Dagestan will continue to assume a pivotal role in driving both regional and national progress.
