The II International Forum "Sustainable Development of Mountainous Territories" will be held in Makhachkala on October 1-3, 2025. The event will bring together leading experts, politicians, representatives of science and business to discuss the future of mountain regions.

This year, the Forum focuses on "The Role of Municipalities in Making Environmentally Significant Decisions for Sustainable Mountain Development". The aim is to develop practical strategies for adapting to climate and socio-economic changes while strengthening the role of local governments in implementing sustainable development initiatives.

Participants are invited from federal and regional government agencies, business community, academic and research institutions, media organizations and public and non-governmental organizations.

The key topics of discussion will include:
