First International interreligious forum kicks off in Daghestan
Makhachkala, August 4, 2014. The first International interreligious forum starts in Daghestan. The event takes place in the pension "Kizlyar Lagoon" in Makhachkala.
The forum brought together young people aged 16 - 30 from the republics of the North Caucasus, Stavropol Territory and Azerbaijan. Besides, prominent social, political and religious figures including Daghestani Head will take part in the forum. The event will last until August 12.
"This forum grants an opportunity to find common ground, comprehension and education of religious tolerance among the youth. Daghestan had been home for three world religions since ancient times, they were able to co-exist in a spirit of tolerance. The experience of ancestors we have to preserve and transmit to descendants" - one of the participants said.
