During his annual Address to the Legislative Assembly, the Head of Dagestan Sergei Melikov outlined a proposal for the establishment of a "Medical Cluster" within the republic. This cluster aims to facilitate the production of essential consumables and components required by medical enterprises.
Melikov highlighted ongoing initiatives supporting this vision, including a project launched by regional authorities to produce glassware in the town of Dagestanskie Ogni. The plant is projected to manufacture medical glass and glassware for pharmaceutical applications. Furthermore, he noted that a project focused on medical oxygen production commenced in Dagestan in 2024.
Melikov also emphasized the importance of developing a sanatorium and resort sector in the republic. This development should involve attracting interested investors who would provide medical rehabilitation services covered by compulsory medical insurance (CMI). The speaker added that this initiative would not only generate additional revenue for the economy, potentially drawing funds from other regional CMI pools, but also stimulate job creation.
Besides, Dagestani Head instructed the republican government to revise the CMI fund distribution methodology, taking into account the region's geographical peculiarities and to establish transparent criteria at the level of regional legal regulation, in accordance with federal legislation.
