The Republic of Dagestan will undertake comprehensive geological prospecting operations in collaboration with specialists from Rosgeologiya, a state geological exploration company.

This initiative stems from proposals previously submitted by the Ministry of Natural Resources to Rosnedra (the Federal Agency for Subsoil Use) regarding cooperation in subsoil exploitation. Consequently, an agreement was reached between Dagestani authorities and Rosgeologiya to employ advanced exploration techniques and secure funding from the Russian federal budget. This decision is deemed timely considering extensive subsurface exploration already conducted in the 1980s.

The primary objective of these operations is to identify mineral resources suitable for infrastructure development within designated tourist clusters. Emphasis will be placed on exploring sand deposits, a resource crucial for construction purposes. Notably, similar verification drilling activities have already commenced in Kabardino-Balkaria, targeting the Tyrnyauz mining area, which is projected to become a mining cluster focused on tungsten and gold production.
