In recent years, timber harvesting in Dagestan has fallen by more than 2.5 times. The reason for this, according to the Forestry Committee official, is the widespread transition to gasification and electrification in the republic. According to the head of the committee, Vagab Abdulhamidov, the amount of firewood used by the local population is decreasing year by year. Moreover, the untimely and sanitary clearing of trees is worsening the condition of the forests. As a result, the Dagestani authorities came up with the idea of using wood for pallets production.
