The Russian Ecological Operator has launched a federal information system for accounting of solid municipal waste. From December 1 the regional operators and other industry participants are obliged to input data on container sites, sources of formation and amount of waste, the press service of the company reports.

REO has launched the Federal State Integrated Municipal Solid Waste Management System, which is designed to make the waste management industry transparent. That in turn will allow to make decisions on the development of solid waste management system in the regions, tariff regulation, as well as equipment and infrastructure development.

According to the order of the Ministry of Natural Resources of the Russian Federation, the executive authorities of the regions of the Russian Federation, the local self-government entities, the regional operators for waste management, the REO itself, as well as the legal entities and individual entrepreneurs operating in the industry will be obliged to input data in the created system. The system will accumulate information on container sites, waste quantities, regional operators' activity zones, sources of waste generation, waste management facilities and the scheme of household waste flows.
