In Dagestan, the law enforcement officers from the Federal Security Service and the regional Interior Ministry have successfully thwarted a major terrorist threat by detaining 12 individuals suspected of being involved in the activities of a banned terrorist organization in Russia, the official statement runs.

The joint operation resulted in detection of a conspiratorial cell actively involved in preparation of a big criminal act on the territory of the republic. The investigation revealed that the detainees possessed a cache of firearms, along with two homemade explosive devices containing a total of one kilogram of trinitrotoluene, materials used for their manufacture and 20 bags of ammonium nitrate weighing approximately one ton. Additionally, a substantial amount of ammunition was confiscated. The discovered explosive devices were immediately neutralized at the scene.
