Sabrina Aliyeva has been leading the accessibility program at the "Patient Monitor" public organization since 2000. The activist uses a wheelchair and is personally familiar with the challenges faced by people with limited mobility. Thanks to her efforts, over the past five years, more than 600 lawsuits have been granted in Makhachkala alone, mandating the installation of ramps and curb cuts.
According to her, all central streets in Makhachkala are now equipped with lowered curbs and all government institutions have implemented accessibility measures for people with disabilities.
Sabrina has become the only resident of Dagestan nominated this year for the all-Russian "Voice of Heroes" award. She admits the nomination came as a surprise—her colleagues from "Patient Monitor" submitted the application on her behalf.
The "Voice of Heroes" People's Award was established in 2022 and gained all-Russian status in 2025. The award aims to recognize and support deserving citizens who help others and improve quality of life across the country.
