Makhachkala, February 9, 2018. Since January 29, a large group of climbers from St. Petersburg has been undertaking a series of ascents to the peaks in Dokuzparinsky district of the republic, the chairman of the Republican Mountaineering Federation Peter Leonov says.
"22 climbers from St. Petersburg are climbing the highest points of Dagestan – the mounts of Bazarduzu and Shalbuzdag, as well as the most difficult peak for climbing - Yarydag. Until mid-March, the other groups of alpinists from Moscow, Murmansk, Nizhny Novgorod are expected to arrive in Dagestan"- the RIA “Dagestan” interlocutor said.
According to Leonov, on January 3 – 12, a group of Petersburg climbers will challenge the mount Yarydag on the most difficult route of the 6B category.
"This route was laid about 10 years ago by Dagestan rescuers Shanavaz Shanavazov, Konstantin Doro and their colleague from Saratov Oleg Bibin. The mountain climbers from St. Petersburg did not achieve the goal on this route, choosing another one, of average complexity", - Leonov noted.
