Dagestan hosted a satellite event of the IV Congress of Young Scientists, which is held in various regions of the country starting since 2022, by order of the President of Russia. The event aims to establish a constructive and effective dialogue between the scientific community and regional leaders.
More than 100 experts and scientists from 22 different cities in Russia attended the event in the republic. Over the course of three days, they worked alongside representatives from the scientific community and local enterprises to discuss and develop practical projects aimed at solving problems relevant to Dagestan. The event was divided into four sections, covering a range of scientific topics.
Breeding and technological features of adaptation of plant production branches in the conditions of global climate change;
Complex of measures to combat desertification in the northern plains of Dagestan;
Development of technologies for concentration and extraction of rare alkali metals from highly mineralized geothermal waters of the Republic;
Development of proposals to mitigate the consequences of changes in the Caspian Sea's water level regime for the region's economy.
The participants of the scientific event visited various districts of the Republic, including Derbent, Nogai and Kumtorkaly. They visited the branch of the Federal Research Center of the All-Russian Institute of Plant Genetic Resources named after N.I. Vavilov. They also visited vineyards of local wineries, inspected areas affected by desertification, phytomelioration sites and artesian wells. Additionally, they visited a forest nursery and an oil and gas condensate field. Finally, they visited the Berikey lithium-bearing geothermal water field.
