With regard to Ratmir Rasulov, the Minister of Natural Resources and Environment of the Republic of Dagestan, the region is in need of more than 5,000 additional container sites for waste accumulation and approximately 20,000 additional containers. In particular, the regional center - Makhachkala is estimated to have a shortage of approximately 2,700 such sites.
The city currently has just over 1,000 official waste collection points, with more than 600 of these being registered in the relevant cadastral records.
In accordance with the minister’s instructions, an inventory has been conducted in Makhachkala, which has allowed for the identification of specific areas within the city that would benefit from the allocation of additional waste container locations. Additionally, a number of adjustments have been made to the existing container placement scheme in order to ensure that bins are strategically positioned based on the volume of waste generation in each area.
