Dagestan Regional Management Center and Dagestan State University have partnered on a new video series that aim to showcase the work of young researchers in the region. The first episode features Abay Maksumova, a talented scientist who specializes in nanomaterials, nanochemistry and gas-phase synthesis methods. Despite her young age, Maksumova has already achieved significant recognition as a candidate of chemical sciences and senior lecturer at the Department of Physical and Organic Chemistry at Dagestan State University.
Maksumova has received several scientific grants and authored five patents for her inventions. She is an active participant in all-Russian and international scientific conferences, representing Dagestan.
Recently, she received a RUB 3-million grant from the Russian Science Foundation for a project that aims to develop innovative antibacterial nanomaterials to solve environmental problems in her region. The project involves creating effective filters using these materials.
Maksumova emphasized the significance of this project, as it is her own research, requiring her to assemble a team, allocate resources, and assume responsibility for the results. She plans to continue participating in contests and applying for grants to fund new scientific projects in the future.
