Moscow, March 25, 2015. On March 22, Deputy Dagestan Mufti Kazim-Hajji Temirbulatov met with Dagestani youth at the office of the Spiritual Board of Muslims in the capital of Russia to discuss the decline of morality among young people, a source in the Moscow’s Dagestan Youth Association told RIA Dagestan. The event brought together about 50 people of all ages and nationalities.
Kazim-Hajji gave a lecture on the basic principles of Islam which help Muslims preserve their moral character no matter where they live. He recited and detailed on a lot of Prophet Muhammad’s hadiths and great scholars’ sayings that give a pretty clear idea of what kind of person a Muslim should be. This issue is very relevant for youth now, because young people are the most active and mobile part of society that acutely reflexes negative features of today’s situation.
Participants asked many questions about preserving the cultural identity in a multicultural metropolis. There were also a lot of requests to publicly condemn some groups in social networks that contain a lot of videos that discredit individual nations and Muslims in general. Kazim-Hajji answered by assuring that the most important thing is to learn your religion as deeply as possible and spread the knowledge among others – that’s the key to eliminating the fear of assimilation and significantly bettering young Muslims’ behaviour.
