Makhachkala, March 7, 2017. In 2017, 8 private kindergartens are expected to be opened in Dagestan. The information on this has been voiced March 6 by the Minister of Education and Science of the Republic of Daghestan Shahabas Shahov at the meeting of members of the Ministry’s Public Council.

"We must understand that the creation of new places in the system of preschool education must be implemented not only at the expense of capital investments, but also through the use of alternative funds" - the minister said.

Shahov noted that at the end of 2016 there were 789 pre-school educational organizations with coverage of over 96 thousand children in the republic. Only in 2016, 18 kindergartens covering 4,5 thousand kids have been put into operation in the republic.

"The private sector is actively developing in Dagestan. For the present time there operate 28 private kindergartens with the coverage of more than 3 thousand children. The number of children in the private sector increases by 1,000 per year.

In 2017, we expect the opening of 8 more private organizations. For our part, the Ministry takes all necessary measures to support the non-state sector, including almost 10-fold increased expenditures for these purposes. Despite the measures taken, we have not yet achieved 100% access to preschool education for children aged 3 - 7 years, and today this figure makes approx. 81.5%. The high birth rates, as well as the internal migration of population from rural to urban areas lead to congestion and a shortage of kindergartens" - Shahov pointed out.
