Makhachkala, May 22, 2015. High-tech endoscopic surgery of laparoscopic pyelolithotomy has been for the first time ever held in Dagestan, the founder and head of the endosurgical course of Dagestan State Medical Academy Magomed Hamidov told RIA Dagestan.

"Laparoscopic pyelolithotomy (a least invasive surgery performed to remove calculi from the renal pelvis) with ureteral stenting for patients with urolithiasis was held in Dagestan for the first time. This operation has been recently performed in the surgical department of the hospital of Dagestan Interior Ministry’s medical unit to a 56 year old patient. On the fourth day after the operation, the patient was discharged in a fair good condition," said the source.

The operation was done by Magomed Hamidov (surgeon) and doctor of the highest qualification category Gazimagomed Gazimagomedov (urologist). Magomed Hamidov said that introduction of advanced technologies was the result of effective interaction between the clinic of Dagestan State Medical Academy and medical unit of Dagestan Interior Ministry.

In the surgical clinic of the medical unit they carry out a wide range of high-tech surgical operations in the republic for trauma and urological diseases. The plenary session of the Russian Society of Endoscopic Surgeons held this January at the premises of the medical unit played a major role for further development of endoscopic surgery in the republic (that was the first session held in the North Caucasus Federal District).
