First "Women of Dagestan against drugs" forum kicks off in Kaspiysk

Makhachkala, May 28, 2015. Yesterday, May 27, the entertainment center "Moscow" in the town of Kaspiysk hosted the forum "Women of Dagestan against drugs." The event in such format is held in the republic for the first time.

The deputy Prime Minister RD Ramazan Djafarov, the deputy director of the Federal Drug Control Service of Russia across Dagestan Nikolai Tsvetkov, the Chief Federal Inspector of the North Caucasian Federal District across Dagestan Vasily Kolesnikov and others attended the forum. The state academic dance ensemble “Lezginka” met guests at the entrance to the center. The deputy Prime Minister RD Ramazan Djafarov greeted the forum participants saying that the problem of drug addiction in the early 21st century has become one of the most critical by its negative consequences.

"It is obvious that the work on the formation of a healthy way of life in modern society must be carried out systematically. To do this, in the present circumstances it is necessary to unite the efforts of government agencies, the media, business community and the NGOs. Special attention in the prevention of drug abuse must be paid in the family as a cell of society, which by its very purpose, in essence should become an outpost in anti-drug activities. Only family can raise a physically and mentally healthy generation" - Ramazan Djafarov said.

The deputy Director of the Federal Drug Control Service of Russia across Dagestan Nikolai Tsvetkov pointed out the importance of such a forum. "I am pleased to observe that the leadership of Dagestan takes serious measures to solve the problem. The republican governmental agencies attach great importance to the fight against drug addiction, which is a serious problem in terms of ensuring the national security of Russia. And this forum shows once again how seriously the region treats this problem. One in five registered crimes relates to the field of drug trafficking - Enrik Muslimov said. - This trend is observed for the last three years. Last year's statistics showed an increase in drug-related crimes increase by 8%"- the officer said.

The Human Rights Commissioner RD Ummupazil Omarova and Dagestan Head’s commissioner for protecting family, motherhood and childhood Intizar Mamutaeva appealed to the mothers of the republic to take an active part in the fight against drug trafficking by paying maximum attention to their children.
