Hachiko - cat who lived on his owner’s grave in Dagestan passes away

Hachiko the cat, hailing fr om Dagestan, passed away in St Petersburg, having been brought there for medical treatment. Known for his fidelity to his owner's memory, the feline guardian had watched over his beloved owner’s final resting place for seven years.

Hachiko's health had been compromised by a series of severe illnesses, including pneumonia, infectious peritonitis and chronic renal failure. Despite the best efforts of the veterinary team, the cat's condition proved insurmountable, leading to its demise.

The news of Hachiko's passing was conveyed by the charitable foundation "Usaty Polosaty" (Whiskers & Stripes) serving as a reminder of the profound impact these beloved pets can have on our lives. It is reported that the ashes of this cherished feline will be transported back to Dagestan for burial alongside its owner, wh ere the cat spent its final years of devotion.
