In a year, cruises are scheduled to begin among Astrakhan and the cities in Dagestan. By 2025, it is planned to launch the latest Russian cruise ship, the Nikolai Zharkov, and commence its maiden voyage.

This four-deck vessel, belonging to the Karelia class, correspond to the international Lux class and, due to its size, will be capable of navigating in areas with restricted navigation. Indeed, it will mark the commencement of passenger transportation across the Caspian Sea between Astrakhan Region and Dagestan.

Between September 19 and 28th, the vessel will sail from Rostov-on-Don, via Volgograd and Astrakhan to Makhachkala and Derbent, before returning to Astrakhan via Makhachkala. The cost of this voyage, titled "Legends of the Caucasus", will be more than 445 thousand rubles per passenger.
