"The role of the Russian intelligentsia in formation of Dagestan" conference kicks off in Dagestan

The Ministry for National Policy and Religious Affairs of the Republic of Dagestan, in collaboration with Dagestan Humanitarian Institute, has organized a conference exploring the intersection of Russian and Dagestani culture.

The conference commenced with specialized discussions focusing on prominent Russian intellectuals in Dagestan during the 19th and early 20th centuries, examining the impact of Russian culture on the development of Dagestan's cultural landscape and analyzing the interplay between Russian and Dagestani intellectual circles. Concurrently, a broadcast was transmitted via Vatan radio.

Renowned linguists, including Dr. Gennady Slyshkin, Head of the research Laboratory "Linguistic Freedom and the Psychology of Information Impact" and Director of the Center for Linguistics and Professional Communication of the Russian Academy of Sciences and Dr. Anatoly Ustinov, Professor at the Department of Teaching Methods of the Russian Language, Institute of Philology, Moscow State Pedagogical University, delivered presentations on the evolution of the Russian language, its global dissemination, and the concept of language security.

Subsequent afternoon sessions featured meetings with students. Dr. Slyshkin addressed the topic of linguistic freedom and the psychology of information impact, while Dr. Ustinov discussed the acquisition of the Russian language in the North Caucasian region of Russia. The conference will culminate tomorrow with a plenary session, anticipated to be its most significant event.
