Tolerant interethnic relations development project launched in Dagestan

Makhachkala, October 12, 2016. The tolerant interethnic relations development project "How are you, neighbor?" has kicked off October 11 in the village of Novokayakent in Kayakent district of Dagestan, the spokesman of the Republic's national policy Ministry reports.
The project aims at strengthening interethnic relations among the peoples living on the territory of the republic, the development of cultural exchange and strengthening of ties among the municipalities and groups of different ethnic and religious affiliation.
The event participants laid flowers to the monument to the soldiers fallen in the Great Patriotic War, symbolically planted trees along the Friendship Alley, took part in the round table "Neighborly assistance", honored the reputable families of the district, competed in the traditional kinds of sports and enjoyed a concert with songs in Kumyk, Dargin, Avar and Russian languages.
The rural areas of Kayakent district of Dagestan are densely populated by Kumyks and Dargins. The Aguls, Lezgins, Tabasarans, Kumyks, Dargins and Russians have been living together in the village of Druzhba for more than 50 years.
