Boxers Magomed Omarov and Radjab Butaev qualify for Olympics

Makhachkala, January 27, 2015. Dagestani boxers Magomed Omarov and Radjab Butaev within the Russian national team had qualification fights for the Olympic Games-2016, senior coach of the Dagestan boxing team Zuber Djafarov told RIA Dagestan.
M. Omarov in the 91 kg weight had a bout at an APB tournament held January 24-25 in Baku. It was the fourth qualifying fight for M. Omarov. He opposed Magomedrassul Medjidov – Dagestani native now representing Azerbaijan. That was their third fight; Medjidov won the previous two - at the World Cup and the Olympic Games in London. This time, M. Omarov was the one to celebrate success.
January 23, Radjab Butaev won the team competition at a WSB tournament where the Russian boxing team opposed the China Dragons on their home soil in China. Butaev in the 69 kg weight to whom that was his first WSB appearance left no luck to local Wei Liu. Also, Dagestani native representing Rostov region Gassan Gimbatov in the 91 kg weight defeated Zibao Wong. In total, the Russian team won the Chinese 4: 1.
The International Amateur Boxing Association (Association Internationale de Boxe Amateur, AIBA) have athletes qualify for the Olympics in three ways: through the World Series of Boxing (WSB), AIBA Pro Boxing (APB, professional boxing and amateur competitions) – the men's World Cup 2015, and the continental qualifying tournaments.
