The first four masters of rhythmic gymnastics were trained in Dagestan under the federal project "Sports is a Norm of Life" of the Demography National Project.

Pursuant to an order issued by the Russian Ministry of Sport, Dagestani gymnasts Umsalamat Arslanhanova, Jasmina Ismailova, Makke-Madina Kagermanova and Zhanetta Murtuzalieva were conferred the title of «Master of Sports of Russia». They are the first gymnasts in Dagestan to achieve this prestigious honor.

These athletes are members of the «Gymnastics Academy» sports club and were trained by the Honored Coaches of Russia Maria Ignatyeva and Maria Starodubtseva.

Dagestan boasts a remarkable number of individuals actively engaged in physical activity and sports, with over 1.75 million people participating in regular exercise programs, accounting for approximately 58% of the population aged between 3 and 79 years old. Thanks to national projects, 32 new sports facilities were constructed in the region in 2023.

The federal project "Sport as a Norm of Life" under the national project "Demography" enables Russians to lead a more active and healthier lifestyle. Regular mass sports events are organized across the country and the infrastructure for local training is being upgraded. The aothorities develop professional, children's and youth sports through programs for the renovation, reconstruction and construction of stadiums, multi-purpose complexes and schools. These national projects gave been implemented starting since 2019, following the decision of the Russian President V.Putin.
