Daghestan sportsmen perform at the Russian Championship
Makhachkala, July 29, 2014. Six Daghestani athletes participated in the Russian Championship, held in Kazan on July23 - 26, the director of Children and Youth Sports School Albert Rzaev reports.
As to Albert Rzaev, the Russian championship in athletics became the last and main qualifying tournament before the European Championship, which takes place in Zurich, Switzerland on August 12 - 17.
In the capital of Republic of Tatarstan, Dagestan athletes performed in the following disciplines: running at different distances, including hurdles and long jump and triple jump.
The runners Rinat Amrakhov and Nurlan Aliyev managed to reach the semifinals. Tamara Suleimanova and Salimat Baybolatova participated in 100 and 200 meter races. Daghestani sportswomen have successfully completed the preliminary stage of the competitions.
Ussban Mirzakhanov failed to qualify in the long jump. The discus thrower Magomedsalam Magomedov threw a discus at 60, 56 meters, which allowed Dagestani to take the third place in this category.
