<yandex:full-text>
KASPIYSK, June 22 – RIA "Dagestan". Gyulmira Khalifatova, a graduate of I.I. Khanbalaev Republican Center of Education in Kaspiysk, achieved an unprecedented result on the Unified State Exam, gaining the maximum possible 300 points. The Ministry of Education and Science of Dagestan noted that such a score had never been recorded in the republic before. Khalifatova attained perfect 100-point scores in three subjects simultaneously: Russian language, advanced mathematics and physics, demonstrating equal proficiency in both sciences and humanities. Earlier, Gyulmira had already won prizes in Olympiads in history, social studies and mathematics.

The outstanding result reflects both the teen’s perseverance and the high level of her teachers. Abdurakhman Abdurakhmanov taught her physics, Telman Vagidov mathematics and Tasmina Abdulgalimova Russian language. School director Anzhela Bairambekova has established conditions that enable every gifted student to reach their full potential.

"These 300 points are a victory I share with my teachers. They stayed by my side, explaining, supporting and believing in me. Now I firmly believe that any great goal is achievable if you simply put in the work every day" - the graduate confessed.
</yandex:full-text>

 <yandex:full-text>
MOSCOW, June 22 – RIA "Dagestan". The Beat Film Festival of documentary cinema focusing on new culture has taken place in Moscow, with its lineup including "Jazzestan", a documentary about a musical group from Dagestan.

The film explores the story of "neeet, ty chto", one of Russia's most unusual indie ensembles, comprised of Dagestani jazz musicians.

Ramazan Mallaev and Rasul Makhaliev founded the group by merging jazz, funk and Caucasian cultural influences, establishing "neeet, ty chto" as one of the most notable discoveries at the country's music festivals.

Filmed by the group's permanent music video director Timur Abakarov and producer Mikhail Novitsky, the project goes beyond a simple biography to uncover the ideological foundation of "neeet, ty chto." The band's manifesto centers on an unwavering passion for their profession, a refusal to follow trends and the production of dynamic music enriched with what the artists humorously term "a modicum of art."

The picture illustrates both the grueling path the Dagestani musicians navigated to achieve major recognition and the distinct creative ethos that defines their collective identity.
</yandex:full-text>

 <yandex:full-text>
DERBENT, June 19 – RIA "Dagestan". The Institute of Archaeology of the Russian Academy of Sciences has initiated the third and final fieldwork phase at Derbent's historic Naryn-Kala citadel. Vladimir Koval, who heads the Department of Medieval Archaeology leads the research team. The current excavations are concentrated near the fortress's cross-shaped building. Specialists examine the archaeological site identified as the "Cultural Layer of the 5th – Early 20th Century" uncovering artifacts and evidence from this extensive historical period.

Running from May 27 to September 30, 2026, the fieldwork aims to answer a question that has generated intrigue over two years of preparatory work: when was the mysterious underground cross-shaped structure built, and what was its true function? In the coming three weeks, scientists hope to find these answers. At present, the eastern excavation has been backfilled following the completion of studies, artifact documentation and conservation efforts, while soil removal continues in the western sector. After moving through the "more recent" 18th and 19th-century soil layers, the archaeologists have finally reached the oldest cultural horizon, yielding immediate and promising results.

Among the centuries-old finds is an exceptionally well-preserved 17th-century jug. Close by, archaeologists found an ancient domestic cooking area containing multiple tandoors, or traditional clay ovens. The excavation revealed that a large tandoor had been built by cutting into a smaller, pre-existing one, leaving only its bottom and a fragment of its wall. Furthermore, the team discovered a ceramic pipe used to boost combustion. Serving as a highly advanced feature for a 17th-century household hearth, the pipe helped maintain a hotter, more even fire.

Excavators have revealed a bricked-up aperture in the wall that looks remarkably like an arrowslit. Scientists characterize this find as a rare "architectural palimpsest"—a physical layering of history akin to text overwritten on ancient parchment. The colossal wall dates back to the Sasanian era of the 6th century but eventually fell into disrepair, prompting a major reconstruction at the turn of the 19th century.

Rather than demolishing the original Sasanian masonry, the 18th- and 19th-century builders ingeniously integrated it into their new design, leaving an intricate engineering riddle for today's archaeologists to unravel. All fresh discoveries will bypass the laboratory and go straight into a special exhibition case in Derbent Museum-Reserve's Museum of Archaeology, enabling visitors to witness the fortress's ancient history coming to life in real time.
</yandex:full-text>

 <yandex:full-text>
MAKHACHKALA, June 19 – RIA "Dagestan". A delegation from Pakistan, headed by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Faisal Niaz Tirmizi, visited Dagestan State University as part of their visit to Dagestan. The topic of the meeting with Rector Murtazali Rabadanov was the prospects for developing educational, scientific, and cultural cooperation between universities of Dagestan and Pakistan.

Rabadanov briefed the visitors on the university's core activities, highlighting its academic and research capabilities as well as its international partnerships. The rector highlighted that preserving the republic's linguistic diversity was a fundamental part of the institution's educational and scholarly objectives. In response, Ambassador Faisal Niaz Tirmizi emphasized the crucial role universities play in fostering stronger bilateral relations between nations.

According to the ambassador, he deliberately includes three types of institutions in his travel itineraries — universities, government structures, and chambers of commerce — because they are the platforms that foster strong links between people, cultures, business communities and educational bodies. Tirmizi expressed willingness to expand educational and scientific cooperation, deliver shared projects, organize student and staff exchanges and roll out competitive programs.

The diplomat pointed out how timely and useful the visit to Dagestan and the exchange with DSU staff had been. He underscored that educational partnership could form the basis for advancing bilateral ties. Ambassador Tirmizi offered assistance in establishing direct university-to-university contacts between Pakistan and Dagestan. The talks finished with both parties expressing a shared desire to broaden cooperation, underlining that closer links between educational and scientific bodies would strengthen humanitarian bonds, promote scientific and educational progress and create fresh opportunities for students, teachers, and researchers on both sides.
</yandex:full-text>

 <yandex:full-text>
MAKHACHKALA, June 17 – RIA "Dagestan". The construction of the innovative IT campus "School 21"—a free educational project by Sberbank designed to train digital technology specialists—is progressing in Dagestan. The status of this large-scale project has been reviewed at a working meeting chaired by Acting Head of the Republic Fyodor Shchukin.

The construction of a contemporary four-story complex is underway in Makhachkala. By now, work on adjusting the monolithic structures of the building is almost fully finished at the construction site. In parallel, the working documentation is being developed and the design for the exterior facade is being completed.

Fyodor Shchukin called the new campus a strategically significant and pioneering initiative for the republic. He pointed out that Dagestan had a critical need for a modern ground to train IT personnel who can successfully develop the digital sector. To prevent any holdups, the governor set the task of preparing a detailed plan with specific timeframes for every stage of the work.

Special attention at the meeting was given to the surrounding area. Fyodor Shchukin imposed a strict ban on any commercial or residential development there, instead instructing that a modern recreational zone for city residents be created around the center.

"Residents find this location very attractive and it should offer both utility and beauty. For this reason, the territory adjacent to the training facility must be kept clear of buildings and developed as a community space. Having weighed all design options, we must now move ahead. There are no barriers to doing so" the top official said.
</yandex:full-text>

 <yandex:full-text>
MAKHACHKALA, June 17 – RIA "Dagestan". Researchers from the "Smart Materials" laboratory of Dagestan State University have developed porous composite membranes that decompose organic pollutants in water using ultrasound and an alternating magnetic field, the university's press service reports. The research results were published in the international journal Materials Today Catalysis by the publishing house Elsevier.

The development is based on composite membranes made of fluoropolymer and barium hexaferrite nanoparticles. The scientific group led by Candidate of Chemical Sciences Farid Orudzhev systematically studied the new material's ability to break down organic pollutants. The key achievement of Dagestani scientists is that the material is activated without direct mechanical contact and without the use of light.

Under the influence of ultrasound, the membrane operates in piezocatalysis mode, generating powerful oxidizers — hydroxyl radicals — that safely decompose toxic substances into harmless components. The degree of water purification using this method reaches 96% within 60 minutes.

For the first time in the world, magnetically induced piezocatalysis has been demonstrated on membranes of this type. Under the influence of an alternating magnetic field, magnetic particles inside the membrane create local micro-deformations that are effectively transmitted to the polymer matrix and generate internal electric fields that destroy pollutants. With this fully contactless method, the efficiency of organic degradation reaches 81%. Moreover, the developed membranes possess high mechanical stability and are capable of operating in multiple cycles without losing their properties.

Farid Orudzhev noted that the key distinction of the development was the demonstration of the ability to trigger catalytic processes using a low-frequency alternating magnetic field.

According to Orudzhev, the study shows that organic pollutants can be efficiently degraded when exposed to an alternating magnetic field with a frequency of just a few hertz—a method he called a fundamentally different approach. The low-frequency field causes micro-deformations of the magneto-sensitive particles embedded in the membrane, which then transmit mechanical stress to the piezoelectric polymer matrix and produce internal electric fields. This triggers redox reactions that destroy pollutants without relying on direct contact, light, or sophisticated high-frequency systems.

According to DSU Rector Murtazali Rabadanov, the creation of energy-efficient and contactless deep water purification technologies is of great importance for global ecology and sustainable regional development, providing industry and agriculture with safe water resources. The technology could form the basis for creating compact filters for treating industrial wastewater, autonomous water purification systems activated remotely via physical fields, as well as new types of piezoelectric energy generators. The research was carried out with grant support from the Russian Science Foundation.
</yandex:full-text>

 <yandex:full-text>
MAKHACHKALA, June 12 – RIA Dagestan. The Russian Public Chamber held an off-site meeting in Makhachkala focused on supporting the GIAHS (Globally Important Agricultural Heritage Systems) program and encouraging rural and agro-tourism. Run by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN, the program aims to preserve unique traditional agricultural systems. To date, more than 100 sites in 29 countries have obtained GIAHS status.

The event brought together representatives of the Public Chambers of Russia and Dagestan, FAO experts, deputies of the regional parliament and officials from government bodies and public chambers from several Russian regions. Shamil Dzhamalov, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food of Dagestan, pointed out that the variety of the region's natural and climatic zones provides favorable conditions for producing eco-friendly and authentic goods.

According to him, obtaining international status will increase the recognition of Dagestan-made products, serve as an additional incentive for the development of agro-tourism, the preservation of rural areas, and the increase of incomes for rural residents.

Fedor Voytenkov, FAO consultant for the GIAHS program, briefed the participants on the mechanisms for granting the status and its importance for regions that maintain traditional farming practices.

Particular attention at the meeting was devoted to the ancient technique of producing traditional skin-bag cheese, which is preserved by the agricultural cooperative "Agrofirma Sogratl" in Gunibsky District. The head of the enterprise, Abdurakhman Churaev, presented this unique local practice to those in attendance and invited the guests to visit the farm, where the traditional technology is still in use today.
