Dagestan prime minister meets with Chinese investors in Moscow
Moscow, November 24, 2016. Yesterday, November 23, the prime minister of the republican government Abdusamad Gamidov, who was on a working visit to Moscow, met with Chinese investors at the Permanent Mission of the Republic of Dagestan to the President of the Russian Federation.
The Chinese side was represented by the director general of Moscow branch of the Chinese company for communications and construction Yunfen Bai, the deputy director of "Oil and Gas Management" JSC Chen Xiaoyu and the other top managers of Chinese companies.
The parties considered the participation of Chinese investors in major infrastructure projects on the territory of the republic of Dagestan. Abdusamad Gamidov pointed out the importance of the negotiations for Dagestan and the Russian Federation as a whole. According to Gamidov, the Asian cargo (China - India - Iran) may be transported to Europe via the Caspian Sea if supported by Chinese investors.
"Our advantage over the other ports is that Makhachkala Commercial Seaport - the only non-freezing port in Russia. Besides, we have created almost all the necessary infrastructure: in Dagestan we have federal highways, railways and the oil pipeline. Our goal today is the increase the traffic"- the chairman of Dagestan Government said.
China's representatives spoke about the work of the company. They noted the company’s rich experience in the construction of ports and inquired about the ongoing projects in the republic and the support provided to investors from part of the local authorities.
The Chinese investors expressed their willingness to work with the partners in Dagestan under one condition; they insist on participation the Chinese company as a general contractor.
At the end of the sitting, the parties agreed to establish a working group consisting of representatives of the federal government, the leadership of Dagestan and the Chinese company. The group is expected to prepare the feasibility study of the disputed projects.
