Marine tourism festival to be held in Dagestan in summer 2017
Makhachkala, October 20, 2016. Dagestan is actively involved in the development of sea cruise tourism in the Caspian Sea. The republican authorities had already filed an application for holding the regional festival for the development of marine tourism. Forum is scheduled for summer 2017.
"We are interested in international projects with the participation of Azerbaijan, Iran, Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan", - the Minister of Tourism and Folk Crafts of Dagestan Magomed Isayev said.
Isayev added that marine tourism festival will bring together the representatives of all the countries of the Caspian basin. Isayev confessed that the development of cruise tourism in the Caspian Sea will depend on the construction of new passenger port in Dagestan. "This year, we reached an agreement on the construction of a new passenger port in Makhachkala, and in future, if possible, another one in Derbent. The project has already kicked off.
It is hard to specify the time frame. We need to build the passenger port first, to receive all the necessary documents and to create all conditions", - the minister noted.
In the near future, the ministry experts will develop a program for the implementation of marine tourism development project on the Caspian coast. "Nowadays we have small boats but do not have a specialized company cable to carry tourists across the Caspian Sea" - the minister concluded. Another important condition for the development of cruise tourism in the region is the purchase of passenger vehicles specially constructed taking into account the specifics of the Caspian Sea. “It must be ships with a double bottom, so that they were storm resistant” - Isayev said.
Earlier, the authorities of Dagestan announced intention to build a ferry port in Makhachkala, to lay route and to launch a small cruise ship between the capital of the republic and the city of Derbent. In March 2016, the Presidium of the Marine Board of the Russian government offered to launch a cruise line "Diamond Hand from Astrakhan to Baku with an entry to Makhachkala port.
