Dagestan and Palestinian Writers' Unions sign cooperation agreement
A solemn ceremony of signing a cooperation agreement between Dagestan and Palestinian Writers' Unions took place today October 5 in the Poetry Theater.
Within the framework of the agreement signed by the Chairman of Dagestan Union of Writers Magomed Akhmedov and the Chairman of Palestine Union of Writers Murad Al-Sudani, both parties plan to regularly exchange the latest achievements in the field of literature, proposals for the translation of literary materials, provide mutual assistance and take part in seminars, poetry festivals, conferences and organize the exchange of delegations.
As to Al-Sudani, many Palestinian writers know Dagestan thanks to Rasul Gamzatov's book "My Heart, Dagestan". “Rasul Gamzatov was the messenger of his country, his people and his culture for the whole world. We have a lot in common: love for the homeland and its protection. I don't think there are writers like Rasul Gamzatov who would understand their homeland in this way and extol it to heaven. We will continue our cooperation and maintain friendly ties, ”- Al-Sudani said.
In turn Akhmedov added that he is in solidarity with the people of Palestine, who are fighting for their children, their land and homeland.
The meeting was also attended by the Minister of Culture of Dagestan Zarema Butaeva. She greeted the guests on the hospitable land of Dagestan and noted that building cultural and historical bridges was very important in strengthening the foundation of friendship, mutual understanding and dialogue.
“I am sure that we will have many more interesting joint events and, using today's meeting, I would like to invite you to take an active part in the celebration of the 100th anniversary of our dear fellow countryman Rasul Gamzatov, which will take place in 2023, in accordance with the Decree of the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin" - Butaeva said.
