Dagestan parliamentary speaker Hizri Shikhsaidov meets with state media heads
Makhachkala, February 11, 2015. Dagestan parliamentary speaker Hizri Shikhsaidov met with the heads of local state-owned media at Dagestan National Assembly, the research and information department of the National Assembly told RIA Dagestan.
The event brought together 1st deputy chairman of the National Assembly Yuri Levitsky, deputy chairmen of the assembly Saigidakhmed Akhmedov and Seifulah Issakov, and heads of parliamentary factions. Visiting the meeting were republic’s minister of information and press Aznaur Adzhiev, director of the State Broadcasting Company "Dagestan" Louisa Alikhanova, CEO of the Republican Broadcasting Company "Dagestan" Magomedbek Akhmedov, director of RIA Dagestan Magomed Magomedov, and deputy chief editor of the "Dagestanskaya Pravda" newspaper Gazi Gassainiev.
Shikhsaidov started the meeting saying:
"We have gathered here today to share ideas on how to provide a better coverage of Dagestani parliament in mass media".
Members of Dagestan National Assembly and heads of the state-owned media then voiced their views on how to solve this problem.
Summarizing the dispute, H. Shikhsaidov drew the meeting’s attention to the need for closer interaction between parliamentarians and the media community:
"The National Assembly’s committees regularly hold meetings, round tables, parliamentary and public hearings, and it all ought to be brought to public attention."
