Strategy and tactics of fight against ideology of ISIS across Northern Caucasus discussed in Makhachkala
Makhachkala, November 13, 2015. On November 12-13 in Makhachkala, Dagestan State University hosted an All-Russian Conference "ISIS. Information and psychological aspects of countering terrorism in the North Caucasian region".
The event has been organized by the Ministry of Press and Information of the republic of Dagestan along with the Center for Strategic conjuncture, DSU and the League of Safe Internet.
The well-known experts, political scientists, psychologists, sociologists, the representatives of security services, experts of institutions, agencies and organizations implementing information policy, the chief editors, journalists, teachers and university staff specialized in the areas attended the conference to develop recommendations in the field of information and psychological countering terrorist groups in the Russian information space.
The conference participants considered the responsibility of media and journalists in the field of combating the ideology of extremism and terrorism, the strategy, the essential differences and the psychology of terrorist organizations by the example of al-Qaida and the ISIS, the motivations and methods of informational pressure of terrorist on the government and society, combating terrorism and extremism in the Internet.
Besides, the conference organizers announced the first results of the “Anti-Terrorist Hotline” aimed at identification and blocking of information resources, containing terrorist and extremist materials and officially launched a portal "Dagestan Antiterror" containing information materials on countering the ideology of terrorism and extremism.
As part of the conference, the regional “Association of Regional Press of the Republic of Dagestan" was established and a cooperation agreement with the search portal "Sputnik" was signed.
The conference participants developed target recommendations for the state bodies implementing the information policy, the press services and the media.
