First forum of guardians and adoptive parents to be held in Dagestan
Makhachkala, November 21, 2014. The first forum of Dagestani guardians and adoptive parents is scheduled to run December 2 in the hall of the Kumyk Music and Drama Theatre in Makhachkala, a source in Dagestan office of the public movement "Orphan-free Dagestan" told RIA "Dagestan".
The forum is organized by the "Orphan-free Dagestan" movement and Dagestan office of the Russian National Parent Association. The event is expected to attract over 100 caregivers raising three or more orphans and adoptive parents raising children from Dagestani educational institutions.
Participants will discuss topical issues of protecting personal and property rights of children left without parental care who had been transferred to foster families, supporting foster families, developing types of family placement, improving effectiveness of implementing programs training adoptive parent candidates and supporting foster families, and monitoring post-orphanage adaptation of persons leaving care homes.
The forum is supported by the head of Dagestan head and government’s administration, Dagestan Public Chamber, the ministry of education and science, the ministry of culture, the ministry of youth affairs, the ministry of press and information, the mufti of Dagestan, the Gamzatov International Public Foundation, and other sponsors.
