Dagestani weightlifters win medals of Russian championships
Stary Oskol, February 19, 2015. Dagestani weightlifters won one gold and two silver medals at the national championships taking place February 14-16 in Stary Oskol, Belgorod region, athletes’ coach Bedzhidin Ismailov told RIA Dagestan.
The sports event assembled 227 athletes - youth under 18. The Dagestan team was represented by five athletes, three of them managed to place the podium.
"Ferziyat Ismailova won the championship in the 53 kg weight surpassing the master of sports norm by 20 kg in the snatch. Her total is 160 kg - 72 kg in the snatch plus 88 kg in the clean and jerk. Ferziyat was able to leave behind the European youth championship medalist Ekaterina Navitskaya of Leningrad region who finished second.
"Dagestani silver medals came from Mizakhir Zagiriv in the 56 kg weight (191 kg - 85 kg + 106 kg) and Ragimkhan Samedov in the 69 kg weight (255 kg - 115 kg + 140 kg) also winning the master of sports title," Ismailov detailed.
All the winners are natives of Sabnova village, Derbent region. In the follow-up of the national championships, they will bring fresh blood to the Russian national team that will perform at the world championships in Peru in April and the European championships in Sweden in August.
