Djabar Askerov to perform at Hold Counterattack MMA tournament
Makhachkala, April 16, 2015. Famous Russian kickboxer Djabar Askerov will have his next fight under MMA as the major star of the Hold Counterattack tournament scheduled to run April 18 in Moscow, mmaboxing.ru reports.
The athlete will be opposing Russian hand-to-hand fighting champion Gazimirza Gaziteev. The two will contest the Eurasia MMA title for law enforcement agencies.
"I want to try a new area. I already had MMA experience, and I enjoyed it very much. Currently, MMA is one of the most popular sports, providing much more opportunities for athletes than kickboxing does," Asgarov was reported as saying.
Dagestani athlete had his last K-1 bout February 26 at a GPRO tournament in Moscow where he defeated Thai Nonsai Sor Sanikornom by a unanimous decision.
