The Caspian Sea fishing season in Dagestan has officially reopened following the customary summer moratorium. This pause in activity is crucial for the preservation and regeneration of marine life. Fishing enterprises have since commenced operations, primarily targeting sprat, a species of significant commercial value.

To date, over 23.5 thousand tons of fish have been harvested, with sprat constituting more than 85% of the total catch, underscoring its vital role within the regional fishing industry. As the season progresses, production is anticipated to increase, contributing to the diversity of approximately 30 fish species caught in Dagestan water area of the Caspian Sea.
