As part of the “Infrastructure for Life” national project, the republican authorities have fully completed the reconstruction of the 13.8-kilometer section of the regional highway “Buynaksk – Gimry – Chirkata” in Untsukulsky municipal district. This route serves as a strategic transport corridor, connecting Dagestan’s mountainous districts with its central lowland areas and playing a vital role in regional economic development and social connectivity.

Over years of heavy use, the road had deteriorated significantly, with extensive damage including settlements, crack networks and potholes, prompting urgent repair efforts. The rehabilitation project included not only full resurfacing but also the comprehensive overhaul of three bridges, totaling over 200 linear meters, ensuring year-round safe passage for residents, emergency services, and cargo transport.

The work was carried out in stages: a 4-kilometer segment was commissioned in 2024, and the remaining 9.7 kilometers were completed and opened to traffic in 2025, marking the full restoration of this critical link. The upgraded road now provides reliable, high-quality access for communities in remote mountainous areas, supporting local economies, improving access to healthcare and education, and strengthening regional integration.
