In the first half of 2023 Dagestan increased milk production up to 440 thousand tons, the regional Agriculture Ministry reports. Compared to January-June 2022, the indicator increased by 1.4%. The region is among the top ten leading regions in milk production.

"The milk yield increased due to the growth in the number of livestock. For example, the number of cows in farms of all categories increased by 3% - up to 481 thousand heads, sheep and goats by 2.4% - up to 5.7 million heads" - the press release runs.

Along with the milk production, egg production also increased by 1.4% up to 99.5 million eggs, while the production of livestock and poultry for slaughter in live weight decreased grew by 0.9% up to 66.3 thousand tons.
