The Republic of Dagestan has been invited by Rosrybolovstvo (the Federal Agency for Fishery of the Russian Federation) to participate in the upcoming International Fisheries Forum, scheduled to take place in St. Petersburg this October. Within the framework of this forum, Dagestan was invited to showcase its successful experiences in the dynamic development of its fishing industry.

Dagestan boasts significant achievements in the realm of fisheries, with remarkable progress in recent years. In the first quarter of 2025, the production volume in the aquaculture sector reached 6.3 thousand tons, representing an increase of 8.6% compared to the same period in 2024.

The trout production in the region is particularly noteworthy. During the first three months of the current year, a remarkable 428 tons of trout were caught, representing a 66 % increase compared to 2024. With this growth trajectory, Dagestan stands poised to set a new benchmark in production.

In the realm of aquaculture, significant investment projects are underway in the region. One such project is the construction of a rainbow trout farm on the shores of the Irganay reservoir, implemented by the Irganay Trout Company. This initiative has the potential to serve as a catalyst for the overall development of the mountainous areas in the republic. Additionally, a rainbow trout facility in the village of Nechaevka, located in Kizilyurtovsky District, is slated to commence operations, capable of producing up to 3,000 tons of fish annually.

In 2024, Dagestan companies processed 5,850 tons of fish, representing an impressive 18-fold increase compared to the previous year's figure with 309.5 tons. This remarkable growth is attributed to the expansion of production capabilities and the expansion of the number of enterprises involved in processing.
