The head of the regional Ministry for Tourism and Folk Arts Emin Merdanov commented on the situation with increase in the cost of air tickets in the republic in comparison with neighboring regions. According to the minister, Dagestani airlines are forced to raise prices due to the rapid growth of passenger traffic to the republic in recent years.

"Yes, there is a problem. For example, other regions have seen growth in passenger traffic, but in Dagestan, the volume of passenger traffic over the past three years has nearly exceeded the total volume of previous years. This is due to economic factors and everyone understands that as demand increases, prices tend to rise. When there is such a significant increase in travelers to Dagestan, airlines raise ticket prices accordingly" Emin Merdanov explained.
