During the first eight months of 2025, the fishing operations in the North Caucasus region resulted in a total catch of 23.8 thousand tons of fish, as reported by the North Caucasian Department of the Federal Fisheries Agency. The largest portion of the catch was sprat, amounting to 20 thousand tons, followed by mullet with a catch of 593 tons and pike perch contributing 420 tons.
Although these figures indicate a slight decrease compared to the same period in the previous year, the North Caucasus continues to play a prominent role in the Southern Russian fishing industry, primarily due to the significant contribution of sprat and herring from the Caspian Sea.
