The Republic of Dagestan has significant potential as a source of lithium extracted from groundwater, according to Alexander Kozlov, the Minister of Natural Resources of Russia. This statement was made during the Eastern Economic Forum (EEF).
Kozlov announced that Rosnedra, the Russian agency responsible for managing subsoil resources, has granted 25 licenses for the exploration, development, and extraction of lithium-rich groundwater. Several major companies, including Gazprom, Tatneft, and Sibgaz, have already begun exploratory work to extract lithium from these water sources.
Lithium is a critical element that is essential for battery production. Its application goes beyond energy storage and include nuclear power generation, metallurgy, and other industrial sectors.
