Makhachkala Commercial Seaport aims to significantly enhance its transportation capabilities within the Caspian region by acquiring four new ferries by 2030.

As stated by Rizvan Gazimagomedov, Deputy Chairman of Government of the Republic of Dagestan, two ferries will be designed for rail transport and two for road transport. These additions are projected to increase cargo traffic through the port by approximately two million tons.

Gazimagomedov further noted that Rosmorport (Russian Federal Agency for Maritime and River Transport) is actively involved in upgrading docking facilities to accommodate both automobile and railway ferries.   Additionally, a new platform is under construction in the port, capable to simultaneously load and unload up to 200 containers.
