Makhachkala Marine Commercial Port (MMCP) has announced plans to significantly boost its cargo capacity in 2025, reinforcing Dagestan’s strategic role in the International North–South Transport Corridor (INSTC). Port Director Jamal Aliyev forecasts a 15.4% jump in annual transshipment to 3.3 million metric tons, driven by new infrastructure and route expansion.

A major catalyst is the new grain terminal, which has already increased grain transshipment by 30% and improved operational efficiency. Strong growth in cement handling is also contributing. Critically, logistics costs along the corridor have been cut in half, with container shipping from Mumbai to Makhachkala falling from $6,000 to $3,000, enhancing competitiveness and attracting new trade.
