Dagestan has achieved a record-breaking grape harvest in 2024, yielding 301.5 tons – its highest output since the 1980s. This success positions Dagestan as the primary grape producer in Russia, accounting for 42% of the nation's total grape harvest.
The Russian Ministry of Agriculture has played a crucial role in bolstering the viticultural industry through increased state support. Funding has risen nearly fourfold, from RUB 226.4 million in 2021 to RUB 905 million projected for 2025.
Besides, Dagestan not only meets its own demand for planting material but also supplies other Russian regions, including Crimea and Krasnodar Territory. In 2023, the republic certified 7.88 million grape seedlings. This year has witnessed the establishment of 772 hectares of new vineyards, with expectations exceeding 1,250 hectares by year's end. Preparations for autumn plantings are underway on an area surpassing 745 hectares.
