The 39th iteration of the International Gamzatov Literary Festival, known as "Days of the White Cranes" commenced in Makhachkala. The inaugural ceremony took place in Lenin Komsomol Park and was graced by the presence of Abdulmuslim Abdulmuslimov, Chairman of the regional Government.
Abdulmuslimov underscored the festival's significance as a cherished tradition honoring Rasul Gamzatov's legacy and fostering collaboration within the Russian literary community. He emphasized that the event served as a vital platform for promoting Russia's diverse literary landscape, nurturing regional authors and strengthening national literary connections.
Abdulmuslimov further highlighted Gamzatov's unique ability to capture the international spirit of Dagestan in his poetry, positioning him not only as a representative of the republic but also of the broader multinational Soviet literature and the vast expanse of the USSR. The "Days of the White Cranes" Festival originated in 1986 and attained international status following Gamzatov's passing, becoming an annual tribute to the poet on his birthday, September 8th.
