Dagestan authorities boost tax revenues by improving property accounting

A substantial increase in tax collection has been achieved by regional authorities primarily through the streamlined accounting of lands and capital facilities. This significant improvement has been attributed to the implementation of the National Spatial Data System (NSPD) project.

Previously, there was a lack of detailed information about the boundaries of land plots, settlements and municipalities in Dagestan. The project's endeavors, in conjunction with the parallel work on complex cadastral tasks, facilitated the identification of land plot and facility owners, the correct establishment of boundaries and the clarification of each land plot's specific area characteristics.

This development has already demonstrated a positive economic impact, with an estimated RUB 200 million in taxes accrued in 2021, expected to surge to over RUB 1 billion by the end of 2025. These funds, being derived from both regional and local budgets, are allocated to municipalities, enabling them to enhance the territories under their jurisdiction.

The National Spatial Data System now serves as a valuable tool for citizens to independently analyze land plots, investigate potential border conflicts, and evaluate the presence of water protection zones or flood zones.
