In 2022-2023 experts registered steady positive dynamics in the trade turnover between Dagestan and Iran. The volume of exports has more than doubled, the regional prime-minister Abdulmuslim Abdulmuslimov said at a meeting with a delegation from Iran headed by the Governor of Gilyan province Assadola Abassi.

"For many years Iran has been one of the leading trade partners of Dagestan. In the conditions of large-scale sanctions on the part of unfriendly countries, the trade turnover between Dagestan and Iran for the past and current year shows steady positive dynamics, as the exports have more than doubled," - the head of the Cabinet said.

Abdulmuslimov also believes that in the new geopolitical circumstances the international transport corridor "North-South" acquires special importance and can strengthen in the role of a main route for transportation of goods between the regions, which will further increase the volume of Russian-Iranian cargo traffic.
