Dagestan authorities implement program to transform transport infrastructure in its mountainous regions. With a significant investment of RUB 7 billion rubles allocated for 2025, the local government undertook a large-scale initiative to reconstruct vital road networks.

This effort was a key topic of discussion at a recent meeting chaired by Prime Minister Abdulmuslim Abdulmuslimov and Acting Transport Minister Magomed Tagirov. The meeting focused on strategies to boost tourism and enhance the quality of life for local residents.

The work is already underway, with 87 road projects totaling 233 km currently in progress. These upgrades will bridge the gap to remote settlements and unlock new opportunities for regional economic growth.

A core part of the strategy involves enhancing highway tourist routes, which draw more visitors to Dagestan each year. Work is nearly complete on 9 specific facilities spanning 73 km, backed by an investment of RUB 1.4 billion. These new and improved roads will ensure safer and more comfortable journeys through the republic's stunning landscapes.

Looking ahead, plans are already in motion to begin work on three additional sections, extending another 30 km.
