The regional authorities plan to establish a tourist and patriotic center in Tabasaranski municipal district of Dagestan. This initiative involves repurposing a former children's camp into a hub for hosting regional and national events.
Magomed Kurbanov, head of the municipality, explained that the project was presented to Sergei Melikov, the region’s governor, and Grigory Gurov, leader of Rosmolodezh (Federal Agency for Youth Affairs), who expressed support for the endeavor.
The camp's existing infrastructure, including living quarters, pedestrian areas, a spacious 3.5-hectare ground and a sports field, will be leveraged for this project. Additionally, plans include building a glamping center with a large tent to accommodate forums and provide a space for initial military training.
Kurbanov emphasized the camp's year-round accessibility for children of participants in the special military operation, recognizing Tabasaran region's significant contribution (over 4,000 participants) to this effort. This initiative aims to provide a special patriotic environment for their families.
Furthermore, Kurbanov highlighted the district's tourist appeal, positioning it as the second most popular destination after Derbent. The center is envisioned as a blend of youth tourism and patriotic education. Following the positive response from Dagestan leadership and Rosmolodezh, an application for funding will be submitted for implementation in the upcoming year. If all proceeds smoothly, the center is projected to launch operations by 2027.
